Toning Up Thursday: Hang In There

I am now on my third week of completing Tracey Mallett‘s 6 Week Challenge. It hasn’t been easy. I hate to exercise more than anyone I know. It seems all my friends are now are trying to be healthier, but when we were younger the most exercise we got was going to the dance clubs and dancing all night. And that was a great workout…but really how long can going clubbing regularly last – especially when you are a mom to a toddler?

Here are my motivators (great to have when trying to find a reason to quit and eat a ginormous bowl of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream):
1) Reduce the size of my Buddha belly (not cute to still look pregnant after two years and some months of not being pregnant).
2) Not wanting to huff and puff while chasing my son at the playground…nothing worse than being that parent that looks close to a heart attack while playing with their child.
3) Yes, I would like another child. Very often I change my mind when the terrible twos rears it ugly head around here more than I would like…but yes I would like to have another child. And I do not want to be as out of shape as I was during my pregnancy with Little Monkey. Spraining my back pretty much says it all!
5) Hoping to reduce my chances of needing a c-section with my future child. C-section was not fun with Little Monkey…recovery was AWFUL for me.
4) Did I mention the Buddha belly?! Not cute…nor is the third chin that I have developed.

Since the end of May, I lost 12 pounds. How you ask…who knows!? I started with the EA Active and lost 7 pounds in two weeks. Now I am only training with Tracey Mallett’s Sexy in 6 system. I’ve lost 5 pounds in two weeks. I notice the weight loss more with Tracey Mallett’s workouts. I can actually see muscles in my stomach!

They say it takes 21 days to form a habit…I completed day number 15 today…so close.

Just a little randomness for Friday

Things have been a little quiet from me since we’re still in the process of packing our house (just the stuff we don’t use) for the Realtor to come over and take pictures. Packing has definitely taken longer than I would’ve liked, but I can only do so much with my two year old Little Monkey following me from room to room.

Woo hoo! I was beginning to think my luck had worn out since I had been entering all sorts of giveaways with no luck.

I was wrong! This week has been great with giveaways!

On Tuesday, I won a Box of POPers (all 8 flavors!) from Veggie Mom and Uncle Lynn! It was Veggie Mom’s 1 year Blogoversary.

On Wednesday, I won a 6 month free subscription to online, streaming professional Yoga classes, courtesy of Yogaglo.com from Makeover Momma.

On Thursday, I won a Girls Night In Gift Basket from Love To Shop Mom‘s Birthday Celebration. Update: I just found out that I won the book “Your Best Birth” by Ricki Lake and Abby Epstein from GrowingYourBaby.com!!!

Update: Today (Friday) I won a $50 gift card to 1-800-FLOWERS from Daddy Knows All (@BrandyEllen‘s hubby’s blog)!

It’s been a good week! Yeah!

I’m skipping Fitness Friday today because sadly I did not use the EA Active once this week. I have been packing that is enough exercise for me. At the Mom Active Twitter Party yesterday, I got to meet @TraceyMallett(Twitter) from www.TraceyMallet.com. Tracey is an International Fitness Expert. I’m really interested in the two books she wrote Super Fit Mama: Stay Fit During Pregnancy and Get Your Body Back after Baby(you can pre-order it) and Sexy in 6: Sculpt Your Body with the 6 Minute Quick-Blast Workout.

Tracey has had Sexy in 6 Weeks Challenges and I’ve asked her about when the next one will be since I just missed the May Challenge. Hopefully we will see a challenge in the fall, but in the meantime you can have a Challenge of your own – all you need is the book Sexy in 6 and the two 6 Minute QuickBlast videos. *Sally’s* results speak volumes (no this is not me). I’m much more flabby. icon sad Just a little randomness for Friday

Fitness Friday: I’m soooo sore!

fitness friday button new Fitness Friday: Im soooo sore!

I’ll admit it…I fell off the wagon a little with my workout. I missed two days. It’s hard to force yourself to workout when you can barely walk from the pain. I am working out with the 30 Day Challenge (medium intensity) and as I write this my hubby is working out to his 30 Day Challenge. I know once he’s done he’ll turn around to hand me the remote for my turn. Argh! I very much dislike the pain! Oh well…if I don’t get back on again today, I ‘ll make more excuses and the cycle will continue. Looks like 10 minutes more and it will be time for my workout.

Since I started last Saturday, I’ve lost 4 lbs. Ummmm….I’m not really sure how or why since the only thing I’ve changed is adding the 30 Day Active to my routine. And I really think that with such a dramatic lost that I might hit my weight plateau early, but I won’t let that get me down. I have been sore, achy, and sleepy…I thought when you exercise you are supposed to get energy?!

You can read up on how my first few days went with my EA Sports Active post.

EA Sports Active

I don’t know if you seen it yet, but I have seen it all over the place…and I got the hubby to cave in and buy it on Saturday! EA Active is $59.99, but well worth it so far. This is more what I was looking for when I bought the Wii Fit.

I am UNBELIEVABLY sore! Right now I am participating in the 30 Day Workout that was created by EA Sports in collaboration with Bob Greene. Today is my day of rest and you have no idea how thankful I am that today is a rest day! My arms and legs are so sore. I’ve been trying to take it easy around the house because of the pain. My hubby was laughing at me yesterday. He said I was walking around the house looking like Dr. House (from House, M.D.) hobbling in pain. I haven’t actually looked at the other options in the game because I am scared of the personal trainer! I hear that’s painful, too. Oh well…I guess if I want to get back into shape there is going to have to be some pain.

What comes in the box:
The product will come with the software, a resistance band to use for your upper body exercises and a specially designed neoprene leg strap that fits the nunchuk to track your lower body movements.

I will be spending most of today recovering. I am so out of shape! Day 1 was the worst for me. I’ll admit I am horribly out of shape and what my doctor would categorize as obese. I know, I know…terrible considering I am only 27! I was so excited to try out the 30 Day workout that we tried it out after we ate a dinner while we were out shopping. I had a plate full of Lebanese mezzas (appetizers) that had hummus, meat sambousek, kibbeh, stuffed grape leaves, and tabouleh. Probably not the ideal meal to start a workout an hour later with…especially if you are like me severely out of shape. Day 1 was eventful…I started the workout. All was going well except that I had a horrible pain in my foot that I was trying to ignore (I wasn’t running in place correctly – hubby fixed that) and then with two exercises left to go I was just sure that I was going to vomit. I was so sick that my hubby had to unstrap the leg strap for me because I was focused on not puking on our carpet. I didn’t throw up, but I spent at least 30 minutes under a cool shower waiting to puke and trying to cool off. Not a lovely site. Day 2 was uneventful! Yeah! I made it through all the exercises without wanting to puke, but I did have some choice words for my onscreen trainer since I was starting to feel sore more yesterday. Hopefully tomorrow won’t kick my butt severely.

Anyone else using the EA Active? Let me know what you think about the personal trainer and/or the 30 Day workout.
