It is World Breastfeeding Week 2011!

I am celebrating World Breastfeeding Week 2011 this week. It started August 1 (today) and ends on August 7.

I’ll be making this a sticky as well to add links during the week with cool finds and important info.

In case you didn’t know, I am pro-breastfeeding as I breastfed my first son for 18 months and my newest little guy is breastfed as well. I like to call myself a lactivist (lactation activist), but don’t worry I won’t beat you up if you chose to feed your child another way. I’m just glad you fed your child! I like to educate my friends and family, but ultimately the decision will be up to you.

My Best Friend Besides My Hubby

Isn’t he cute?! Little Monkey and I have been two peas in a pod since he was born. He is now four years old and this summer will become a big brother. And I seem to be having some serious guilt over this. Lately at least once a week I have a nightmare that I have lost Little Monkey somewhere. It really shakes me up. I know that somewhere in that I know it isn’t just about losing him which I worried about before this pregnancy, but I am also worried about trying to split my attention between two kids. Can I really balance it? Will Little Monkey feel pushed aside? Right now he is excited about becoming a big brother. He says that his brother is already his best friend, but I know the reality hasn’t set in because a baby is a lot easier in the womb. As much as I want to rush this little guy out, I know that once he is out he will require a lot more of me and my attention than he does now. So many things will change and I’m not ready.

How did you cope with guilty feelings of bringing a sibling home? How did you help your child adjust to a new baby in the house?

Starbucks Cake Pops

Anyone else addicted to these Starbucks Cake Pops?! Starbucks started selling this around early March. As far as I know there is only three flavors so far – Birthday Cake Pop, Tiramisu Cake Pop, and Rocky Road Cake Pop. My cousin had me taste the Tiramisu one at her house and then I stopped by Starbucks and tried out the other two. I am pretty sure my favorite is the Tiramisu, but I may have to just try these out again to be sure! Yummy!!!

It’s a crazy, beautiful life

Well, if you couldn’t tell recently I had become completely overwhelmed with life. I haven’t had time to stop by and say hello to my readers or even stop by and visit with my favorite bloggers. I’ve felt so out of the loop. I guess a little spring cleaning has helped to motivate me to get my blog back in order. I missed you all and your wonderful comments!

And, if you’ve missed the memo – still very much pregnant with Baby Boy #2.

The news is in…

In case you haven’t heard the baby news…

Little Monkey is going to have a baby brother!!!

Don’t believe those Old Wives’ Tales!

High heart rate above 140 bpm means girl…WRONG – Baby boy has had a heart rate between 152-166 bpm
Morning sickness means girl…WRONG – I was sick from 5 weeks until 14 weeks!
Wide round belly (watermelon like) means girl…WRONG – I had such a cute round belly the first time around.
Acne means girl…WRONG – It was the worst in my first trimester. I never had a problem with acne with my first!
Baby boys cling to you because they don’t sense competition if you are having a girl…WRONG – My 10 month old cousin clings to me and he doesn’t try to squirm away or cry when I carry him.

I was hoping for a girl, but I LOVE my baby boy! It has been harder for everyone around me because my family has been dying for a baby girl to be born. We are all producing boys!

Sorry for being away so long from my blog. I needed a break worse than I could have imagined. Explanation will follow soon.
