When you post a personal Milano Moment on Milano’s Facebook Page in October, Pepperidge Farm will donate $.50 per Moment up to $50,000 to Susan G. Komen for The Cure.
I’ve already shared my moment. Why don’t you head over and share yours? http://on.fb.me/milanomoment
My toddler LOVES Milano cookies. It is a sweet moment when we get to share eating a Milano cookie together. He has his mama’s love of sweets.
Disclosure: I am writing this post because of the cause and the opportunity to raise money for The Cure. Also by writing this post, I am entered to win a gift card or Milano cookies. Thanks to One2One Network for the opportunity to share this with my readers.
Still trying to figure out who your kid resembles the most? Try My Heritage’s Look-alike Meter. The hubby and I are still trying to figure it out. Little Monkey looks more like the hubby to me, but people always say that there are features on him that look more like mine. I don’t know. What I do know for sure is that my son took on my attitude with his heavy sighs, short temper, and trying to use his cuteness to get out of trouble!
And if you get really bored or just want to be amused you can try out the Celebrity Collage! I’ll take these results!
These ladies are all beautiful.
Disclosure: I have not received any compensation for posting this. I was asked to consider sharing the information. And I’ve actually used these meters before, so I thought this would be fun.
Recently, I was addicted to CafeMom’s Trying to Conceive group. When I first joined the group last year, at least once a week someone announced they are done with the group (because they haven’t received the support they would like from the members), they would ask whether all their symptoms (EVERY symptom) add up to pregnancy, and most important – they would convince me with every post I was pregnant. I just HAD to read these posts.
I’ll admit that when I first joined the group, I was like most of them. I had just had my Mirena IUD removed and was ready to start baby-making. Well, not quite that ready. Not after the face to face conversation with my wonderful OB that delivered Little Monkey via c-section. He looked me square in the face and said you realize you can be pregnant by your next cycle, then my mouth dropped. You see I had prepared myself for this thought in theory, but Little Monkey had just turned two years old two months before my appointment. Was I really ready? No, but for me I can psych myself out of anything if I think about it too hard. So I stared back at my OB for what felt like forever (but was probably all of 30 seconds) and through my fake smile I said “Yes. I am ready.” Big. Fat. Lie. I joined the Trying to Conceive group for support. I found myself in the group lurking. Reading posts but not ever replying. I spent my time thinking about getting pregnant. I checked my best times for conceiving. I swore every symptom meant I was pregnant. I was on the wave of ups and downs like the rest of these ladies after each negative home pregnancy test. And then there was a light at the end of the tunnel, I stayed with my parents while my hubby went out of town for two months. There was no obsessing. I left the group while I was at my parents’ house. I did some reflecting.
I realized that even though we are struggling through a Secondary Infertility, is not the end of the world. Secondary infertility is the inability to conceive a deliver a child after already having delivered one or more children. I was blessed to be able to have Little Monkey. It is hard at times to talk to people about it. It usually starts with “So when are you going to give Little Monkey a brother or sister?” And then I say “We have been trying now for (insert however many) months.” Dead silence. Awkward. I try my hardest to avoid this conversation. There is just no fun way to explain why we haven’t been able to conceive another child in eighteen months.
About six months after I left, I was ready to rejoin the CafeMom Trying to Conceive group. I was able to be a member who could be a cheerleader, a resource, offer guidance or condolences. I am no longer wanting to cry when I read someone’s post about their pregnancy. I can be happy. And being happy is whole lot freeing than being upset or even obsessed. I am enjoying the ride.
Because it is Friday and I want to share the love of these VIAs, I thought why not a giveaway?!
Last week I discovered Starbucks VIA Flavored coffees (6-pack retails for $6.95). Okay, I didn’t so much discover it as the barista forced me (yeah, yeah he had to twist my arm) to try the vanilla flavored VIA. Even though I had gone there for a Toffee Mocha coffee, I left with my drink and box of vanilla flavored VIAs. A couple days later, I went back and purchased the mocha flavored VIAs. What can I say I love Starbucks?! They are oh so yummy! And great for the day when I don’t feel like dragging myself to Starbucks, but I am in the mood for their coffee.
Last week I made Iced Coffees for me and the hubby. It was so easy with the flavored VIA packets! Mix together flavored packet with 8oz of water in a cup, mix with milk or creamer (if you like), and add ice cubes. Yum!
One Barely Domestic Mama reader will win a $15 Starbucks gift card to use towards your flavored VIAs.
How to Enter (required): Go to Starbucks.com and let me know which flavored VIA you would get.

I am not a big fan of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Comics or Horror, but I LOVE that Spike TV’s awards show for this called Scream 2010 recreated a Back to the Future trailer. Yep, you heard me right Back to the Future trailer with Michael J. Fox!!! There is something so charming about Michael J. Fox. I am a nerd and could watch Back to the Future (the first one) a million times!
Who knows I might actually check out Scream 2010 to catch Doc and Marty reunite on October 19 at 9PM/8C!
Did you catch the video that was released this week of Eric Stoltz as the first Marty McFly? I like Eric Stoltz, but Michael J. Fox was better suited for that role. I’m glad they went with Michael J. Fox. If you haven’t seen the clip, you can see it here: Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly.
On October 6, 2010, I found out that my mom had finally received a diagnosis on why she had been so tired and achy. My mom has been tired for years, but the real bad aching just started this year. I thought most of this was because of the long hours she spends on her feet as at work as a cake decorator. I often goofed on my mom for spending the other hours of her time not working on WebMD. I told her that all those symptoms could fit anything from allergies to lyme disease! I said, of course, if you look hard enough you will find some disease that will fit your symptoms. Oh how I would like to kick myself now. My mom was officially diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis.
