Time to Celebrate

mypunchbowl logo sm Time to Celebrate
This year I don’t have the time nor energy to create and send out invitations for Little Monkey’s 3rd birthday party. It really was a last minute decision since we will be out of town at my parents’ house. As luck would have it, I was contacted by MyPunchbowl to let my readers know about their Grand Prize Giveaway, as well as a little bonus for my readers. Let me start by saying I have had experience with MyPunchbowl before as I have been sent invites for parties from my own friends through MyPunchbowl. I think it is a pretty cool site to use for party planning. And I plan on using it for all future get togethers big or small – just because it is a great little party planning site to keep the host in-touch with guests. I sent out my save the date card for Little Monkey’s birthday date and I will be following up today with the actual invitation so that my friends and family can RSVP. One less thing to stress out about. Whew!

Here are just some of the features you get using MyPunchBowl:
• “Date Decider” feature uses guest input to help you find the best date for your event
• “Save the Date” functionality to inform your guests early in the planning process
• A potluck feature to easily keep track of what guests are bringing.
• Easy import of your email addresses from all major sources
• A party message board to network and socialize before and after a party
• Numerous “after party” features to reminisce and share party memories

MyPunchbowl has a Party Planning Section to get recipes, advice, theme ideas, etc.

The first conference I attended was last year’s Get Revived and loved it so much that I am planning on attending again this year! I definitely recommend this conference if you are feeling the need for a revival.

Where did everyone go?!

Apparently my use of the phrase mommy burnout out sent a couple of people packing. I didn’t give up on my blog. In my real life (outside of this blog) I was feeling burned out and exhausted.

I had the opportunity on Saturday to attend the SITS Bloggy Boot Camp in Baltimore and stayed the night in a gorgeous hotel with a King size bed all for me!!! Nothing helps recharge the batteries than getting to be around other bloggers and spending the night away to get some me time. I love my family, but sometimes it is nice to just get away even if it is just for 27 hours! It really made me miss my hubby and Little Monkey.
I’m planning on a short post on my experience at SITS Bloggy Boot Camp in the next day or so since today has been a wash with my fun appointment at the dentist. I thought I had a painful toothache on Saturday afternoon/night, but it turned out to be TMJ. Fun, fun, fun! I guess things can always be worse. My dentist’s suggestion for relief is a night guard that will surely make me all the more sexy to my husband with a lisp and drool. Oh and thanks to my insurance company for obviously thinking that TMJ is not a real condition by not covering any portion of my night guard. In the meantime, I will be swallowing ibuprofen, using moist heat on my jaw, and chewing soft foods. It’s a party over here!
So if TMJ doesn’t scream mommy burnout…I don’t know what does! Seriously though I heard some really great things at the Bloggy Boot Camp that should help me to start reducing the amount of stress in my life which is mostly brought on by myself.

In the meantime while I recover from this painful bout of TMJ, The Mommyologist wrote a great post on a crash course from what we learned at the SITS Bloggy Boot Camp. Enjoy!

This mommy is experiencing burnout…

Yes, I know some of you may think but you have only one kid! I know, I know. But between two months of being out of town at my parents’ house in Florida while the hubby was out of the country for work (did I mention that my parents are so terrified of my child that they NEVER offer to watch him so that I go out and have a break with a friend or even just by myself) and now a few weeks back at our home with the hubby working from home at all hours of the day. This mommy is experiencing burnout at a personal level. My schedule has been thrown off, my house is a wreck, and most of all I haven’t had any quiet time to just myself. Yes, that means my love of blogging had to be put on hold to take care of various things. My dear friends that know me know that I require time to mellow out – not days, just an hour or two uninterrupted. According to my Blogthings quiz result I have a Melancholic Temperament* (I know sometimes the results are crazy, but mine is on the money). And, yes, a day with some other mommies would be great or a mom’s night out would be fantastic, but it is hard to stay close within a mom group when you travel a lot. So I am not so tight with my mom group anymore. And in case you missed it, both our families and close friends are far, far away since we moved here when the hubby was in the Army. Okay, so enough of my whining, I’m sure I am not in the worst situation. After all I will be heading to Bloggy Boot Camp with the SITS gals on Saturday. Guess who will have a hotel room without a hubby or toddler for Saturday night?!?!? MEEEEEEE!!! I am so excited to have a night off from being needed. Woo hoo!!! Yes, I love my hubby and I love my toddler, but I do need some me time.

*Here is what that says about me:

Introspective and reflective, you think about everything and anything.
You are a soft-hearted daydreamer. You long for your ideal life.
You love silence and solitude. Everyday life is usually too chaotic for you.

Given enough time alone, it’s easy for you to find inner peace.
You tend to be spiritual, having found your own meaning of life.
Wise and patient, you can help people through difficult times.

At your worst, you brood and sulk. Your negative thoughts can trap you.
You are reserved and withdrawn. This makes it hard to connect to others.
You tend to over think small things, making decisions difficult.
