I can’t believe New Year’s is around the corner!

Have a Safe and Happy New Year!
This year went by so fast that I can’t even remember most of the good, bad or the ugly. I guess that can be a good thing. This year Little Monkey turned a year old in April. It was one of the happiest and saddest days for me. People weren’t kidding that time flies by with babies. Little Monkey also celebrated his first Easter. It was hilarious to watch him get Easter eggs because he was scared of touching the grass!

Next year I would like to have some sort of physical fitness routine in sight. Is it weird that I am terrified to go to my gym in my condition? I have no sort of endurance. We are waiting on K-mart to have the Wii in stock…of course, getting it will be another story as there is some great big secrecy on how to actually get one from the store.

We don’t have any plans for tonight. There’s a Martini & Rossi bottle chilling in the fridge for when we watch Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve tonight. I’m sure I will fall asleep sometime during the show like I usually do because let’s face it way past my bedtime. The hubby will wake me up just in time for the countdown. I don’t know what it is but watching that ball drop every year makes me teary eyed.

Cat napping

Little Monkey LOVES our cats. We have two male cats – Oreo (tuxedo cat) and Tiger (orange-red cat). They are going to be 4 years old next year. Oreo is not so fond of Little Monkey. Probably because Oreo feels as if he has been replaced. Oreo wanted nothing to do with me or Little Monkey when we first brought him home. Tiger has always been curious about him. I actually see Little Monkey and Tiger playing a chase-me-around-the-house game from time to time. Strange, but cute.

The other day we put Little Monkey to sleep in the dining room while his friend was taking a nap in the living room. Little Monkey was still close enough for us to watch him, but far away enough that his little friend wouldn’t see him and he would take a nap. Well, the hubby came around the corner to catch the cutest thing and he took a picture of it.

My Mop-like hair

If you haven’t already noticed I have long boring hair. I used to do lots of short to medium length haircuts before I had my son, but thanks to the 65 lbs. (I am 5 lbs. away from my pre-pregnancy weight) I put on during pregnancy my face seems to still not have returned quite to one chin yet…I hate the multiple chins in my photos. I don’t want a short haircut right now because I feel like it would make my face look chubbier.

I decided the other day to try out a “quiff”. Here’s a video on how to do it.

Here was my attempt at it…

Quiff My Mop like hair That was my first attempt at it. I’ll be trying that again. I need to perfect my skills at it.

Awesome shopping at AZ Jeans

Deal Seeking Mom had a contest to win a gift certificate for Arizona Jeans. In order to enter the contest, I had to say what I would buy with my gift certificate. The contest ended last night, but the sale at AZ Jeans has not. They have a sale going on that has clothes 40%-70% off. I didn’t win the contest, but I sure did decide to go shopping this morning. I got myself a pair of trouser jeans for $17.99 (from $38.00), cardigan for $9.99 (from $36.00), and a pair of shoes for $14.99 (from $50.00) all for $48! That’s not too bad.

Christmas blessings

I know I should be in bed because when Little Monkey wakes up in the morning I know that my hubby will play dead so that I will have to get up with him. That’s how it works around here. I have to pick my battles.

Anyways, today was a great day. God has truly blessed us with great family and friends that helped give us a great Christmas. This year has been tough financially on us with me staying home with Little Monkey. The hubby and I had decided not to purchase anything for each other and just make sure that the Little Monkey had his presents. We were thinking that maybe if we weren’t too badly in debt we can figure out how to get a Wii the beginning of next year. I started to lose hope. I knew our bills were too high. I started to get worried that we wouldn’t get anything for Christmas. I went ahead and bought two gifts for the hubby. A book he really wanted and the Seinfeld SceneIt game. Then I started to win contests…I won a design by Smitten Blog Designs for my blog (which should be showing sometime next week) from Busy Mom, I won books and chocolate from There’s always room for one more, I won a monogrammed cup from Two of a Kind, Working on a Full House, as if things couldn’t get any better I found out I won a $500 gift card to Kmart from eMom and Izea, and the last thing I won this week was a $10 gift certificate to Restaurant.com from Pennies in my Pocket.

MyHotComments

I, of course, will be online from time to time since we are celebrating our holidays far away from our family. The hubby will be off from tomorrow until Sunday which will be nice for us.

I’ve still got presents to wrap…and of course I am on here. Geez. I need to get my butt in gear. I think I am avoiding wrapping presents. Of course, I need to wrap my hubby’s presents now because he is worse than a kid. He was shaking the Amazon box that his presents came in last night. And I know that if he thinks I am wrapping his presents he will make every excuse to come into the room that I am wrapping in! Wish me luck. I might as well say goodbye to the rest of my afternoon since a certain Little Monkey that makes wrapping presents a little challenging and then add my male kitties who like to wander over the wrapping paper…it’s going to be a long night.

A Visit from St. Nick

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro’ the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar plums danc’d in their heads,
And Mama in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap —
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters, and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow,
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below;
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a minature sleigh, and eight tiny rein-deer,
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and call’d them by name:
“Now! Dasher, now! Dancer, now! Prancer and Vixen,
“On! Comet, on! Cupid, on! Dunder and Blixem;
“To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
“Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!”
As dry leaves before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of toys — and St. Nicholas too:
And then in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound:
He was dress’d all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnish’d with ashes and soot;
A bundle of toys was flung on his back,
And he look’d like a peddler just opening his pack:
His eyes — how they twinkled! His dimples: how merry,
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry;
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face, and a little round belly
That shook when he laugh’d, like a bowl full of jelly:
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laugh’d when I saw him in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And fill’d all the stockings; then turn’d with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose.
He sprung to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew, like the down of a thistle:
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight —
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

pixel Merry Christmas!
